Review

The Girl from Class caught my eye with its simple line art and minimal use of color. A slice of life manhwa about a college guy who is nurturing a crush on a girl from his class. The story explores themes of friendship, yearning, heartbreak, and the narrative makes great use of the Greek tragedy Orpheus as an allegory. The main characters are young and understandably less experienced, naive in the ways of navigating relationships.

The story is simple and I really enjoyed how grounded in reality it felt, especially with the ending. All characters are nameless and faceless, stand-in’s for readers that have likely found themselves in the character’s shoes. Despite the minimalist art style and equally minimal dialogue, the artist does a great job of conveying emotion. All in all a solid story with themes that are timeless that is still worth the read in 2025.

“Don’t do this… to someone that you aren’t serious about.”
