Do Not Go in That House is a psychological horror novella about a true crime podcaster biting off far more than she can chew when she decides to investigate a mysterious child murder. Maggie is bipolar, off her medication, wants desperately to go viral, and is deep in the trenches of a manic episode as she dives into her next case. As she immerses herself deeper into her investigation, she finds herself questioning if she’s hallucinating or if something supernatural is truly going on.
The story is told at a frenetic pace that reads like a mystery thriller, it was impossible to put down and I sped through the book in one sitting. I can always rely on Ruth Anna Evans to deliver a great story and I can’t get enough of her work. Every one of her stories balances thrills and chills with deep emotions, nuanced characters, and a story that locks me in a chokehold wanting to know how things will end.
