Review

Disturbed is a free to play horror dark fantasy adventure where you play as a hopeless farmer in a blighted land. The story and gameplay is very reminiscent of the choose your own adventure horror stories that I used to read when I was younger, which I really enjoyed. Anything can kill you, but there were some interesting surprises sprinkled throughout the game.

The writing is pretty basic, but the story was interesting enough to keep me playing. The story reminded me of some older fantasy works and the true ending wraps the entire adventure up nicely and. At the time that I first played this game, I found the art to be gritty and not visually appealing, though it does convey the story and tone well. Everything in this game is hand-drawn and I can appreciate how lovingly it was crafted. After revisiting the game in 2026 inundated with AI slop, the hand-drawn style is refreshing.

Overall Disturbed is pretty alright and worth playing if you enjoy classic choose you own adventure stories. It’s not the type of game that will blow your socks off, but it’s pretty fun. You can’t go wrong with free.
