I read this one over the Christmas holiday last year while visiting with family and I was so stunned I read it twice. Abomination in Wax is a crime novella with an enticing mystery about a strange wax museum that has unsettled the local villagers. The language and setting make this story feel like an old school Christmas story, Sonnet’s appreciation for the classics is evident. This story was a heavy hitter despite being so brief, and it as horrifying as it was thrilling.
I am continually blown away by Judith’s work, every book that she puts out is fresh and original. Every time I think I’ve read her best work she surprise drops something else that’s even better.

“I tell you . . . that monster, Minstrel . . . no . . . Tinsel! Yes, that’s his name! He’s a fiend, and you’d best heed my words on the matter!”
