Review

Dolls is a book that I wished I liked more. The premise as intriguing and I love stories that involve death games. A pair of college best friends are abducted and thrust into a deadly maze dressed as dolls. Who is pulling the strings, and can they get out alive? Horror with a large helping of horny dark romance that I found cheesy. While I was invested enough to see where the story was going, I found the prose extremely repetitive (how many times did she have to say “tiles, lasers, and strings”?) and the ending was underwhelming.

On a positive note, I had the pleasure of reading Eve L. Fell’s recent release, Daisy’s Dark Nursery, which has been a recent favorite. Her growth as a writer from her first novella to her most recent is clear. While Dolls wasn’t for me, I can see a lot of potential in Eve’s writing.
