Synopsis:

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is watching you lose your mind.

Dave is tired of being alone. When he discovers the Real Girl website, the solution seems perfect: a life-sized doll who will never judge, never leave, never break his heart.

Justine arrives in a plain cardboard box, more beautiful than he imagined. She seems to be everything he dreamt of—a silent companion who is always there and always accepting. Then she speaks, her voice emanating from nowhere - sultry, possessive, and impossible to ignore.

Dave becomes more isolated and his grip on reality begins to slip. He must face a terrifying question: has his loneliness driven him mad, or has he invited something sinister into his home?

Real Love is a psychological horror which explores the dark side of desire and the unexpected cost of artificial intimacy. Perfect for fans of psychological horror where reality can't be trusted.

The original short film script by B.C. Hollywood is included.

Review

Real Love is a psychological drama about a lonely man and his real doll. Dave is a pretty average guy, and while his doll Justine temporarily fills emotional void, artificial love can never be a replacement for the real thing. But then Justine speaks to him, and the story unravels from there.

The subject matter of this novella is topical for our times and reckons with male loneliness with empathy. It was suspenseful, absurd, horrifying, and surprisingly funny. Go in as blind as you can because this story is a treat.

Quote

“He found himself stuck in a nightmare from which he couldn’t wake up, with only Justine’s cold, commanding voice to guide him.”
