You’d think being abducted by aliens would be the worst thing that could happen to me. And you’d be wrong. Because now the aliens are having ship trouble, and they’ve left their cargo of human women—including me—on an ice planet.

We’re not equipped for life in this desolate winter wasteland. Since I’m the unofficial leader, I head out into the snow to look for help.

I find help all right. A big blue horned alien introduces himself in a rather . . . startling way. Vektal says that I'm his mate, his chosen female—and that the reason his chest is purring is because of my presence. He’ll help me and my people survive, but this poses a new problem.

If Vektal helps us survive, I’m not sure he’s going to want to let me go.

So this book is a little out of the left field for me. I would not have picked this book up on my own if it hadn’t been because I’ve seen it recommended left and right, and I like the new paperback covers. I found it on Kindle Unlimited, so I thought, sure, why not? This can be a silly palette cleanser between all the dark fiction I’ve been reading this year, imagine my surprise that I actually kind of enjoyed this book.

This book was kind of stupid but kind of wholesome and cute. I expected this book to be really raunchy based on the original covers, and there is definitely some raunchy humor and a handful of spicy scenes with a huge blue alien dick with ridges™. But this book actually had a plot that wasn’t a cheesy porn plot. The aliens, named Sa-khui, make me think of a cross between World of Warcraft Draenei and the Na’vi from Avatar, and although the native stereotypes could be a little annoying, I really liked the Sa-khui. They are seven feet tall with horns, a tail, and glowing eyes; they purr like cats, love eating pussy, are fiercely loyal, and mate for life. What’s not to love?

The humor in this book was good, there are a few wonderful one-liners or silly scenes that made me chuckle. I couldn’t help but think of Shorsey from Letterkenny every time Vektal tried to say Georgie’s name. The communication struggle between them was charming. I didn’t care that much for Georgie; she was crass, but her lamentation about bad sex with human men that don’t want to go down on a woman made me holler.

This is not my usual type of book, but I found it to be a good popcorn read to turn my brain off and just have fun. The ebook version has a surprisingly violent rape scene that does not fit in with the cozy romance of the rest of the book, so I was happy to hear that the physical edition cuts it out. I see why the girlies have been raving about it, and I love seeing indie authors be successful, I respect the hustle, get that money, Ruby Dixon!

About Ruby Dixon

Ruby Dixon is an author of Science Fiction Romance. She likes fated mates, baby-filled epilogues, and cinnamon roll heroes. She also likes to write biographies of herself in the third person, because it feels more important that way.

Ruby also loves coffee and dirty books and will probably be a cat lady at some point. 🙂
