Reading this series is an exercise in pain, Adabana ripped me to shreds. It’s not an exaggeration to say that I was devastated while reading this final volume, and by the final chapter I frankly broke down crying.
Adabana is a psychological thriller horror with heavy doses of tragedy, grief, female rage and bittersweet revenge. The unshakeable bond between Mizuki and Mako tugged at my heartstrings, and I genuinely cared about both characters. The story is so emotionally resonant I couldn’t help but admire how NON managed to skillfully execute a manga this dark, this hopeless, with sensitivity.
The art in this final volume is breathtaking and grotesquely beautiful. There were many times where I turned the page and I’d feel a chill up my spine. The sheer emotion conveyed by the characters takes this story to an entirely new level, solidifying the power of manga as a medium of storytelling.
This manga is a wake up call about the dangers of dating violence and stalking, which is often not taken seriously, and how the justice system meant to protect victims can often fail. This series is incredible, though difficult to recommend due to the deeply traumatizing content, but to the right reader it will leave an impact.

“Forgive me, Mako. I’ll make sure that I drag him to hell, no matter the cost.”
