\"\"I’ve got a bit of a different type of post today. As a lover of indie horror, I thought it would be wonderful to share resources for authors, especially the indies, and to highlight the wonderful artists that help bring author’s visions to life. Who hasn’t at least stopped and read the synopsis for a book thanks to an attractive book cover? It’s a fundamental way to market a book and build a brand identity.<\/p>\n

I am staunchly against AI art, so no AI artists will be featured on this list. While AI seems like it is an easy and cheap solution and there are some readers that don’t care, there are a large number of readers who do<\/em> care. There are plenty of cheaper options out there, and I will try my best to provide a range of artists at different price points. There are many artists with shockingly affordable prices.<\/p>\n

So today I bring you ten cover artists whose covers I personally really enjoy and I hope that you’ll consider hiring them for your next book!<\/p>\n

\nI don’t put direct quotes, but I do put little $ ratings on how expensive services are based on the prices provided on artist’s websites at the time of writing this post. Keep in mind that any prices quoted here are subject to change and may be more depending on the number of revisions or additional services added. If there is no rating listed than it is very likely a custom rate depending on the commission, and I am not aware of the average pricing for this artist.<\/p>\n

Drew Huff is another indie horror author that offers premade covers on their website. They have a great illustrated style and some of their covers I could easily envision being the covers of industry heavy weights published by a big five publisher. Drew Huff is seriously slept on!<\/p>\n

Scott Cole has a striking visual design style with eye catching statement pieces, especially with his white covers, and a wonderful grittier style with many of his colored pieces. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Scott at author events and he’s also a really cool human.<\/p>\n

Pedro Guerra is an illustrator that has worked on commissions for horror books and video games, most notably for Jon Athan and the indie hit video game Choo-Choo Charles. His art is eye catching and terrifying!<\/p>\n

Wendy Sabercore has some of the cleanest and most polished digital art I’ve seen emblazoned across many book covers. They have worked with some big name artists and projects, including the famous SNAFU anthologies. They also offer a variety of other services including book trailers, CD covers, and movie posters.<\/p>\n

Justin T. Coons<\/h2>\n

Shut up and look at his art. LOOK AT IT. Justin is most known in the indie world for the Splatter Western covers, but he has done plenty of other projects besides that. He’s one of my all-time favorite horror artists, I have a few of his signed prints framed in my house.<\/p>\n
