In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.<\/p>\n\r\n\r\n

This War of Mine<\/strong> remains one of the most impactful games that I’ve ever played. A survival strategy game inspired by real world conflict, especially the Siege of Sarajevo<\/a> during the Bosnian War. The player takes on the role of civilians trying to survive a harsh winter trapped in a city under siege, scavenging for scraps and managing your small group of survivors. The game is all about showing the brutality of war and it succeeds without being exploitative.<\/p>\n

I’ve poured countless hours into this game and it still remains just as nerve-wrecking no matter how many times I play it. The game is incredibly challenging even for seasoned players with a fair bit of randomization to keep each playthrough fresh. I had 100% completed the base game some time ago and the DLC added later added new content and stories that I really enjoyed and I’m nowhere near finishing. This is one of the few games where I found DLC to be a positive, with proceeds going to charity.<\/p>\n

This is a game that I like to revisit every once in a while to try out more challenges and it remains in my top ten favorite games of all-time. It’s an award winner for a reason and one that I will always recommend.<\/p>\n
