Founded and managed by Prism Comics, The Queer Press Expo and The Cartoon Art Museum, the goal of the Awards is to recognize, promote, and celebrate diversity and excellence in the field of queer comics.\r\n\r\nThe Nominees and Awards are voted on by diverse panels of comics professionals, educators, librarians, journalists and writers. The voting process takes place in the first quarter of each year, and the nominees are announced at the annual Queer Comics Expo in San Francisco each spring. The Prism Awards and the Prism Award Finalist Honors are presented each summer at Comic-Con International: San Diego at the San Diego Convention Center.
