Another vote for vegetable from me! Absolutely floored you said cucumber is a fruit, I refuse to believe it. I guess it makes sense because seeds? But I don't like it. But yeah this being a food tcg I'd put them in veggies since most people associate them with veggies, plus I think nutritionally they offer different things which probably factors into the vegetable classification? Like I wouldn't eat 10 cucumbers in a day and be like wow my daily serving of fruit has been met.

I'd say vegetables as well, mostly because that's what I know most of them to fall under. Prior to this, I was aware of tomatoes being classed as a fruit but didn't realise the same applied to so many more of them! Since most fruits are sweet/juicy, I could see how tomatoes might fit in that category but so much harder for my brain to accept the other examples you listed. I like the produce section idea, I've definitely seen that being done at farmers' markets.

I chose vegetables because that's what I'm most familiar with. I can respect the scientific approach, but I will never see a tomato as a fruit. They are functionally vegetables so that's the category I immediately associate them with. I enjoy the idea of pumpkins being a fruit though.

Lex: I would eat cucumbers to get my daily serving of fruit but I don't know how good for me it would actually be.

rain: I agree some of the items that are considered fruits just seem so strange to me.

scott: Pumpkins are really funny to think of as fruits. I can't wait for the Fall pumpkin season!

I'd say vegetables too because I (and most of us according to the poll) see them as such. I know I've heard that tomatoes is a fruit but not cucumber, peppers and zucchini so that was a surprise!
Also, nothing wrong with eating a tomato like an apple

The Culinary Vegetables I grew up eating are Vegetables though they are being classified as fruit nowadays. It doesn't matter if they are fruit or they are vegetables you need them to ensure a healthy diet. Tomatoes pair well with salads, sandwiches, and other things, it has an acid taste that burns the tongue if you eat too much of them. Cucumbers have a bitter taste and crunch texture and are good on their own or paired with something even pickled. Peppers are good sauteed, stuffed, and eaten raw. So they seem to fall in either or but mostly both if they are paired with certain things.

Vegetables.
When we shop for them, they're in the produce section near the other vegetables. I already question the source of other things. I can't begin to process everything I know is a lie. Even if peppers are a fruit I refuse to believe it. In terms of why, because they have the green earthy taste in them. Like when you bite into lettuce or onions. it just feels right to call them a vegetable as well. Because I don't think anyone would want to put a pepper in their fruit smoothie.
omg omg omg
People
totally put veggies in their fruit smoothies. Including bell peppers. Some fruit/dessert smoothies even call for serrano peppers! Bell peppers give a bit of spice, but also: if you do it right,
they're completely undetectable. It's sooo weird, haha. Some bell peppers taste sweet by default, while others taste sweeter once paired with certain other flavors.
Smoothie chemistry is so interesting. XD
Other veg (culinary or otherwise) that go into fruit smoothies, aside from the leafy green stereotype: avocado, beets, carrots, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, sweet potato, squash, zucchini (literally has zero flavor whatsoever)...and they still taste like fruit, because they're predominantly fruit smoothies.
