Round 7
What's your favorite pasta dish?
My answer
I love chicken Alfredo, but it has to be made properly from an Italian place and can't have mushrooms hanging out in the bowl. There's this really great place, Roma's, near me that makes it SO well. I love it, but I am also lactose intolerant and can't have it that much.

But it's sooo worth it

Mushroom pesto. I used to like aglio olio pasta a lot more, but my taste for that has significantly declined, and cream-based sometimes makes me feel a little bloated? It definitely depends on the pasta place though. A lot of the places that sold good aglio olio near me closed down, so that probably contributed to me liking it less.

i'm actually not the biggest pasta fan... if we're talking noodles that's another story, but italian food isn't my favorite so i'm mostly ambivalent towards pasta. i'll eat it, but i won't be excited about it. the one exception is raviolo al' uovo, which i've only had once but it's so good! if you give me anything that's egg yolk-centric i'm probably gonna love it.

Ive been obsessing with sweet potato pasta. And lately Aldi's have been selling seasonal fun shaped pasta like fall leaves, hearts, pumpkins, etc and I love using that for the pasta. Makes me think of the kraft mac and cheese shaped pasta.

Probably ravioli or stuffed shells! Definitely can't go wrong with either of those. I like most pasta noodles, though my fave shapes are probably bowties and rotini. There's something strangely satisfying about just like, a simple bowl of pasta with just marinara sauce on it or something. Also very easy to make for dinner when you don't want to cook sjfhkjhfs.

Elijah: I had never heard of a raviolo until now but I'd be interested in trying! I can be hit or miss with eggs. I had an authentic carbonara recently which uses a cream made with eggs and hard cheese, and I kind of hated it. I've had not authentic carbonaras before which was really just alfredo with bacon and mushrooms that I loved, whoops!

I can understand not being big on pasta, it's its own set of flavors and textures.

Jennifer: I had no idea there was sweet potato pasta, that would be an interesting one to try. One of my favorite veggie pastas that I've had was Spinach Linguine, it was so good! I think they used to serve it at Bonefish Grille with a cream sauce and sun-dried tomatos. I became obsessed with sun-dried tomatoes, even though I'm not normally big on adding regular tomatoes on top of dishes.
Survey (Round 7): cauliflower09, sweetpotatofries12
Lex: Stuffed pastas are so delicious! My daughter Zerogami's favorite noodles are bowties, they are so cute and are fun to cook with. You're right about pasta being super easy to make for dinner. I make penne alfredo with sliced andouille at home pretty often and it always impresses people, but it's one of the easiest dishes to make that I can do quickly.
Survey (Round 7): bloodorange03, horchata07
Mysti: I agree that alfredo can sometimes make me feel bloated too, depending on how it's made and the cream versus cheese content. I don't know if I've ever had an Aglio Olio, but looking it up it sounds good. I'll need to try it sometime! I tend to default to alfredo or stuffed pasta with tomato sauce whenever I have pasta.
Survey (Round 7): kamaboko06, kimchi05
Portia: I FEEL THIS SO MUCH!!!! I am an unapologetic cheese fiend, especially white cheeses! I love a good penne alfredo especially. Curse my lactose intolerance!!!

Well I know there is sweet potato noodles and that is in Jap Chae. Those are yummy. But when I say it, it would be like a vegan mac and cheese. It doesn't taste like that but I love it. Plus a little bit of sneaking in vegetables.

Orzo, by far! It's a pasta that is made small and looks like rice. There are so many ways to cook it, and so many ingredients you can add to change it up. I also like tortellini, wether it's cheese, meat, or mushroom filled.

Seafood pasta! I'm not a huge fan of pasta to be quite honest, but I love seafood so that's my go-to. I do enjoy watching chefs make their own pasta though, especially when they have to do intricate folds e.g ravioli or cappelletti.

SWEET POTATO PASTA?! I have GOT to get my hands on some of that stuff! I pretty much love everything sweet-potato, LOL. And YES I love Aldi! Haven't seen the pasta yet but I'm sure it'll get in stock soon!
I can pretty much eat pasta every day. I love it! There are so many ways to eat it, I don't feel like I'll ever get sick of it. The thing is, I'm kinda spoiled with my parent's cooking... I LOVE my mom/dad's penne a la vodka... But I've gone other "real" Italian places and have been so unhappy with it. Last night, we had pasta, actually! Just penne, with sauce and meatballs. I usually just eat with a bit of sauce, and lots of grated Parmesan. It's SO good!!!
