A key component of book marketing is the COVER! The cover is the first impression about a book before ever flipping it over to read a synopsis. Because of that and because I have become friends with a few cover artists, I wanted to use my blogger voice to highlight artists producing wonderful cover art for authors big and small.
As always, I am staunchly against AI. I know some folks don’t care and there are many indies that fall back on AI, arguing that it is “the future.” I disagree. I’ll say simply that as a reader that drops thousands of dollars on books each year, if I see an AI cover, I’m far more likely to skip over the book entirely.

I don’t put direct quotes, but I do put little $ ratings on how expensive services are based on the prices provided on artist’s websites at the time of writing this post. Keep in mind that any prices quoted here are subject to change and may be more depending on the number of revisions or additional services added. If there is no rating listed than it is very likely a custom rate depending on the commission, and I am not aware of the average pricing for this artist.

Oscar specializes in what he calls “weird” book covers. His style reminds me a bit of the absurd art found on 1990’s MTV, which I think makes him perfect for bizarro titles. I actually really like his art and the color and font on Bunny Room I always find eye-catching.

All of the covers I featured above were instant buy books before I even knew who the artist was, his work is magnificent and even more incredible holding in my hands. Cotronis has even been hired by publishing mega giant Simon & Schuster. I have no idea what his commission price would be, but he is definitely a “cover buy” artist.
