Rabbit Blind is a quietly horrifying short story about a young girl who finds herself drawn to the rabbits in her yard. There’s something deeply wrong with the rabbits, and the girl sets out to help them. This story was simply incredible, I felt creeping dread as the story shifted from a what felt like a dark and dreamy fairy tale to cold, oppressive reality. The allusion to Alice in Wonderland and the use of rabbits as a symbol for Ester’s plight were not lost on me, and I was impressed with how skillfully this story was crafted. I really enjoyed this story and am excited to read more of Horton’s work.
