Review

The Princess Bride is my favorite movie of all-time. To me it is truly the perfect movie: cozy fantasy, high action, witty dialogue, epic romance; this movie truly has it all. This film made me fall in love with the fantasy genre.

The Princess Bride is adapted from William Goldman’s 1973 novel of the same name and is remarkably faithful to the source material. The film feels like a modern fairy tale and has the most memorable cast of characters I’ve ever encountered. Cary Elwes (Wesley) made my young girl heart flutter and he had a big influence on my future preference in men. Wallace Shawn (Vizzini), André the Giant (Fezzik), and Inigo Montoya (Inigo Montoya), all gave such insanely funny performances and were so loveable, they outshine the two leads.

I first watched the movie as a kid and have watched it countless times throughout my life. It is easily one of the most quotable films of all time, and at this point in my life I know the script by heart and will probably be quoting this movie on my deathbed.
