Review
Coloring Game: Little City is a relaxing little color by numbers game. This game was free to download on Steam so I gave it a shot and enjoyed it. There are 15 images in the base game of varying difficulty levels. I was impressed with the level of detail in some of the larger images and I had a lot of fun coloring each quadrant. It made me really happy to see an area of the picture that I was working on pop with color as I worked on it. I actually felt pretty satisfied when I finished an image, especially the larger and more difficult ones.
I was surprised that there were actually a few controls to this game, including the ability to hold down shift to keep your lines straight while coloring, and an undo button. Clicking on a number will highlight the corresponding boxes, but there is an option to turn this feature off. You can also use your mouse wheel to zoom in and arrow keys to smoothly scroll across large images. Completing an image awards the player with a cute little animation and a matching steam achievement. The animations are simple, and a few are funny and a bit of a surprise. There is a few calming dance songs that play in the background while you play, but you can also turn the music off.
Overall it was a good experience for me, it is a very simple game with a small selection of intuitive settings for the player to adjust to their preferences. As noted, the base game is free, but there are options to purchase DLC for additional images. This developer has also released several free coloring games, so there is plenty of free content to explore. I think that it is well worth it to give the base game a try if you’re just looking for a silly way to unwind or pass the time.
