I love Maangchi, though saying the candy is "healthy" is a little dubious. lol I mean it is very similar to peanut brittle and no one calls that healthy. I was thinking the same thing about it being an easy thing to make for the holidays, if rice wasnt so $$$ I would probably try making some homemade rice syrup and then the candy. I ended up watching the rice syrup recipe and that was really cool to watch how it ferments to make sugar.
i love maangchi! i've used some of her recipes in the past, and i would eat the heck out of this candy. even though i'm allergic to nuts. THE PAIN IS WORTH IT, PROBABLY. really simple and traditional candies are so good, the process for making this reminds me of making alegria; the ingredients are different, but you really can't go wrong with some sort of nut or grain in some sort of sweet syrup or honey.
