Every night, you awaken in your studio and paint your masterpiece.

Review

It Paints Me is a short gothic horror visual novel about a painter haunted by the loss of his muse. It’s a solid story about grief and some decent body horror. The writing was excellent, and the hand drawn illustrations were beautiful. The visuals combined with the sound design create a wonderfully dark atmosphere tinged with dread. I was pleasantly surprised that the game was partially voiced and was impressed with the quality.

All three endings are achievable in around 30 minutes. The game is too short to leave a lasting impression, but for a free game the experience it was a good experience. I picked this game up by chance and I’m glad that I did, and it piqued my interest in this developer’s other games.

Quote

“I paint the hours away, or perhaps, take no time at all. The clock on the wall never turns its hands, suggesting that the world lies still, the seconds never pass, and I am the only thing that moves within it.”
