Review

Thrifty Business is a cozy shop simulation game bursting with charm! You run a thrift shop, opening boxes full of second hand goods and organizing your shelves. The more organized your shop, the higher your chances of making sales. The gameplay loop is simple but fun, and great for people that enjoy organization games.

Throughout the game, you meet a cast of colorful characters and get to know their stories through casual conversation, similar to the stories found in one of the developer’s other games: Sticky Business. I was pleasantly surprised to find a trio of characters that I got to know in Sticky Business. There is no definitive end to this game, you can continue playing even after unlocking all the upgrades and finishing all of the character stories which is nice.

A highlight of this game is the wonderful art direction with a variety of objects all pixeled by a single artist. The game is colorful and offers a mix of modern and nostalgia items with tons of references. There is plenty of themed furniture that you can unlock to customize your shop how you see fit.

Overall this game is pretty fun! I was able to unlock all of the achievements in under 20 hours and it never felt grindy. A solid recommendation for cozy gamers looking for a short and sweet game, especially those that enjoyed the organization aspect of games like Unpacking and Hozy.
