The last volume of this manga came and went, and it was alright. The third act conflict is angsty and attempts to add some character development for Mayumi learning to stand on her two feet. Mayumi’s former best friend shows back up in her life despite being the cause of Mayumi’s breakup with her boyfriend at the start of the series. The story becomes one about toxic friendships with and that friend that tries to control the people closest to thhem because they lack self-esteeem. I disliked this character, but will concede that she was well presented, I’ve definitely known girls like her in the past.
The remainder of the volume moves in a way that is predictable. While I liked each of the characters, I think Mayumi and Rin “fall in love” a little too quickly. The other two characters well, they are still sisters, which is uncomfortable. I felt that the series races a little too quickly to the conclusion, but was thankful that it didn’t overstay it’s welcome.
Days of Love at Seagull Villa is a fluffy manga all about starting over and finding not just yourself, but a new found family. There is some angst and a little bit of fan service but this is balanced well with the sweet moments. It is a very soft love story compared to other yuri manga that I’ve read, it never feels high stakes and characters are not that awful to each other. It ended up being more mediocre for me but I think it will appeal to the right kind of reader.
