Survey: "The Giving Tree", "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and "No Homework! No More Tests!" played a big influence on me in elementary school. The latter was my FAVORITE book, though a "friend" (a "popular" girl in my 5th grade class) borrowed it, then "lost" it, and I saw it in the teacher's reading basket. It had my name on it, and I tried taking it home but someone accused me of stealing a book. -.- I never got it back, but I'll buy it one day because it's one of my favorite books even now.
