Goodness gracious this series is getting really good and I am fully hooked. At last we get the back story for Shuugo and he delivered! Early rejection, losing out to a brother, and then watching his childhood love fall in love with someone else and respecting those boundaries; he’s honestly become one of my favorite characters.
In stark contrast to Shuugo, Kizuki’s possession and fear of Mizuho being “taken” by another guy is typical romance fodder, but it again is not considering Mizuho’s feelings. Her heart is something to be given, not something to take. Shuugo’s older brother and Mizuho’s first crush Tougo is back. He doesn’t stand a chance, but I like that the introduction of this character is a motivating force for the other boys to get their butts in gear, especially Shuugo. Meanwhile, Mizuho is doing her best to chase her manga dreams and I respect it. Her father is also quickly becoming a favorite character, despite not being in many scenes.
I’m surprised that the story dropped such a huge bomb at the end of the volume, despite volume four still being so early in the series. I’m fairly certain I can guess the ending, so it’s a matter of figuring out if I am correct. COVID-19 is back with another cancelation as the pandemic ramps up with its second wave. This is not just any love story, it’s one of first and last love.
